This study focuses on the enforcement of protective regulations for workers in slum areas. The overarching goal of the research is to investigate the degree to which these rules are effectively implemented and the effect that this has on the workers’ overall quality of life. We hope that by looking more into this subject, we can better understand the complex link that exists between the goals of legislation, the capabilities of administration, and the results on the ground. In addition, one of our goals is to determine the obstacles and possibilities that come up during the process of implementation. By doing so, we hope to shed light on the variables that either contribute to the effectiveness of protective laws in slum regions or to their limitations.
