Background: An effective communication between nurses and patients is a fundamental for quality healthcare delivery, which affects patient satisfaction, treatment adherence, and overall health outcomes. Active listening, non-verbal cues, and empathetic language are crucial in both building trust and good relationships within healthcare setting. Active listening ensures that patients feel heard and understood by the healthcare providers, while non-verbal cues such as eye contact and body language reinforce empathy and engagement with patients. Clear and empathetic language further supports patient care by addressing emotional needs and ensuring understanding. However, despite of positive outcomes barriers such as workload pressures, time constraints, and varying communication skills can be a challenge in consistent application of these practices. Addressing these gaps is an important to enhance nurse-patient connection and improve healthcare outcomes. This study explores the role of these communication strategies in creating a supportive healthcare environment not only for healthcare providers but also for patients.
Result: The results show a strong agreement among nurses that active listening, non-verbal cues, and clear, empathetic language are important for effective nurse-patient communication and foster trust and connection. Active listening practices, such as sustained close attention and patient-focused engagement, were highly emphasized, while non-verbal cues like eye contact and body language were recognized as essential for fostering trust and comfortability of patient while in in recovery. Similarly, empathetic language and voice tone were recognized as central key in the development of positive patient relationships and effective emotional work, underscoring the commitment of respondents to excellence in clinical communication.
Conclusion: These results highlight a very strong commitment on the part of nurses to using effective communication practice, such as active listening, non-verbal cues, and empathetic language. This is very effective in building trust, enhancing the relationship with the patient, and improving health care outcomes. Addressing of barriers such as workload pressures and skill gaps may further strengthen consistent application of the practices.
