In the stock market, retail investors and traders can engage one of two ways: Technical Analysis or Fundamental Analysis. Technical Analysis pertains to the reading of charts where there are indicators that contains several computations of graphical lines reflecting to the price action or volume of a certain stocks. Fundamental analysis involves evaluating the company’s financial and economic status, as well as the backdrop and macroeconomic environment in which it operates. The study therefore aimed to determine which rational tool of decision making retail investors and traders prefer to use in the stock market, whether Technical Analysis or Fundamental Analysis. The respondents comprised of 400 individuals who are a member of the private community named Traders Den Ph. A descriptive-correlational research design was used with a standardized questionnaire as the main data gathering tool. The data were analyzed using correlation and regression analyses via the SPSS. Results from the data indicated that most of the respondents prefer the using of technical analysis and there is a significant effect on the characteristics of the retail investors and traders, accessibility of information, and published disclosure statements on the fundamental and technical analysis as a tool in stock market decision making.
