The regulatory framework for contemporary medicine, Indian Systems of Medicine (Ayurveda, Yoga), and Homoeopathy has been completely overhauled in recent years, making medical education another significant area of government reform. These reform initiatives seek to enhance the doctor-to-population ratio in the nation, ensure universal standards for medical education, and develop curricula appropriate for India. A stipulation to establish a Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) is included in the National Medical Commission Act 2019, that superseded the Medical Council of India.
