BALANCING WORK AND LIFE: NURSES’ STRATEGIES FOR PERSONAL WELL-BEING, JOB SATISFACTION, AND OVERCOMING CHALLENGES IN THE CLINICAL SETTING

Background: Nurses are integral to the healthcare system, directly influencing patient care quality, safety, and outcomes. However, they often face significant challenges such as high workloads, emotional stress, and inadequate resources, leading to burnout and high turnover rates, which can affect both nurse well-being and patient care. Work-life balance, which refers to the harmony between professional and personal responsibilities, is an important aspect in sustaining job satisfaction and well-being in nursing, a high-stress profession. Although many studies have discussed either the contributions or the stressors in nursing, little research explores how these factors interact and affect nurse performance and job satisfaction. This paper addresses this gap by exploring how nurses balance clinical tasks with problems and discusses how it might be useful for developing strategies that both improve patient care and increase retention of nursing staff.

Result: The results of the study will generally indicate that nursing staff are crucial to the patient care, hence with proper recognition of them in improving the quality of care, assessment, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals. Although there are problems of physical demands and staffing, respondents still stress improvements in the work-life balance, flexible scheduling, and better support systems to enhance their nurse well-being and job satisfaction. Overall. In summary, the studies indicate that both nurse retention and patient care outcomes would improve if these challenges were addressed.

Conclusion: Overall, it is evident that the study presents a comprehensive strategy for supporting nurses in balancing clinical roles with individual well-being. Professional development and sufficient training, friendly and health work environments, nurse autonomy, and better policies on work-life balance are some areas that can better enhance job satisfaction, reduce burnout, and improve patient care. While the findings of the study reflect the perceptions of the respondents, further research is needed to explore the practical application of these strategies across diverse clinical settings.
