CHILD LABOUR AND SOCIO-LEGAL WELLBEING: FINDINGS FROM INDIA

Child labour is a pervasive issue in India, with millions of children engaged in various forms of work. This research paper aims to examine the prevalence and nature of child labour in India, and its impact on the socio-legal wellbeing of children. The paper analyses the legal and policy framework related to child labour in India and its effectiveness in addressing the issue. It also explores the root causes of child labour, the impact on the physical, psychological, and emotional wellbeing of children, and its effect on their education and future prospects. The research also identifies measures and interventions that can be taken to address the issue of child labour in India and promote the socio-legal wellbeing of children. The findings of the study are based on a review of literature and qualitative research, including interviews with stakeholders and experts. The paper concludes that child labour is a violation of children’s rights and has a significant impact on their physical, psychological and emotional wellbeing. It recommends a multi-dimensional approach, including legal and policy measures, social and economic interventions, and awareness-raising activities, to address the issue of child labour and promote the socio-legal wellbeing of children in India.
